Hello, my name is Irene Ortiz and I am the long-term substitute for Courtney Schuck, teacher of Computer Graphics Applications 1/2 and Digital Photography. I graduated Absegami High School in 2019 and since then I graduated from Stockton University in 2023 with a B.A. in Visual Arts concentrating in Art Education. I completed my student teaching at Absegami and have continued working with the district in substituting and long-term positions in the Visual Arts Department.
Periods 1, 3, 8A
This course introduces the fundamentals and practices of the modern visual medium of photography and how it relates to the genres of art, modern culture, film, television, and photojournalism. Students will learn and practice the fundamental techniques of digital photography and the software associated with editing and presenting visual works to an audience. To gain a thorough understanding and appreciation for creation and expressing oneself visually, students will explore the production process and procedures of visual storytelling by planning, executing and presenting an original body of work.
Period 2
This course is designed for developing knowledge of the Computer Graphics/Applications industry using professional software programs. Programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe In-Design, and Adobe Illustrator are used to create and design magazine layouts, magazine covers, letterhead, business cards, photo enhancements and manipulations. Digital Photography will be introduced using a digital camera. Photoshop will be used extensively throughout the course.
Period 7A
Advanced Graphics will deepen the understanding of Intro to graphic design. Students will become more advanced in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. They will explore career based ways to use graphic design, and create their unique style of digital are using the graphics tablets. This course will focus on social media posts, character design, commercial design, printmaking, mixed media and marketableproducts using cricut.
