Membership in the National Honor Society is limited to Juniors and Seniors.  This honor is conferred upon students by the faculty in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in scholarship, service, leadership and character.

The selection committee is composed of faculty members selected by the principal as prescribed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Criteria for selection in the The Anthony J. Panarelle Chapter of the National Honor Society:

Scholarship:  Juniors and Seniors with a minimum unweighted 91.00 grade point average will be eligible for selection.  Juniors will be considered for selection at the end of their fifth semester. Seniors will be considered after their seventh semester.
Service: The candidate will have consistently shown a willingness and commitment, to volunteering his/her time and talents to the school and community, to helping others that are less gifted and to performing work without regard to reward.
Leadership: The candidate will demonstrate, by consistently attaining and holding positions of leadership, the ability to motivate others, set appropriate examples, and establish consistency in leading a group.
Character: The candidate will demonstrate a consistent dedication to virtues of honesty, respect, and tolerance of others.  The candidate will be a positive role model in the community and the school.

Each of these four areas, scholarship, service, leadership and character, is considered of equal import. No one area will be given greater weight than another when considering a candidates potential inclusion in the chapter.
